Dharti is a 2011 Punjabi film directed by Navaniat Singh with story, screenplay and dialogues by Manoj Jha. Dharti was produced by Darshan Singh Grewal, J.S. Kataria and Jimmy Shergill, and stars Jimmy Shergill, Surveen Chawla, Rannvijay Singh, Japji Khera, Prem Chopra, Rahul Dev, Binnu Dhillon and Shavinder Mahal. Released on 21 April in Australia and on 22 April 2011 globally.
Dharti is family drama set in Punjab with the backdrop of Punjab politics. Baljit Singh Wadala (Prem Chopra) is the head of the ruling party in Punjab and has two sons. The elder son Vikramjit Singh Wadala (Ramandeep Arya) is following his father’s footsteps and is a prominent political leader, while the younger son Jasdeep Singh Wadala (Jimmy Shergill) is a squadron leader in the Indian Air Force. The younger son has a conflict with his father as he had left his father’s legacy to join the politics.
